Kalahari Manganese Fields Mineral Specimens

The Kalahari manganese fields in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa are a major source of industrial manganese ore, but occasionally pockets of specimen minerals are found.  Often these minerals are very rare and highly collectable specimens such as rhodochrosite, poldervaartite, khutnahorite, brucite, titanite, gaudefroyite, hausmanite and several others.

I have recently met a supplier who travels to Kuruman (the main town associated the the Kalahari manganese fields) on almost a weekly basis, so watch this page over the next few months for some  awesome rare specimens!
